Former industrial tribunal & 1-19 Avenue de Saint-Jean, 1950

1-19 Avenue de Saint-Jean, 13002 Marseille

This series of rather unique buildings in Marseille, is located on the old fishing prud'homie, communities of fishermen who were born in France in the Middle Ages on the Mediterranean coasts in Provence and were able to maintain themselves despite changes in regime while being supervised by central power.

We have to go back to the 1452th century to find the first traces of fishermen's industrial tribunals in Marseille. But it was the letters patent of 1477 and 1481 from King René, Count of Provence, confirmed by the letter patent of XNUMX from Louis XI, which brought this institution into French law. The building thus inherits the title of Fishermen's House. Architecture is made up of several elements which form a contrasting whole. These distant references make it one of the most eloquent buildings in the City Hall district and in the post-war reconstruction program.
